Commissioned by Louis Cartier in 1914 for an exhibition invitation, the Panthère motif in an illustration by George Barbier. Instantly feeling an affliction for the feline, the expert jeweller used its whiskered face on a wristwatch that very year. Now, over a century later, the cat has become a signature character for the house, leading to its appearance atop the Characters ashtray from the brand's latest collection. Shaped from porcelain, it features the iconic panther's silhouette at its centre.
