Since his label’s modest beginnings in a factory in Queens, New York, in 1990, authenticity and individuality have remained the defining feature of Steve Madden’s approach to designing footwear. His native city, rock’n’roll and “pounding the pavement all over the world” serve as inspiration for a slew of statement shoes, from the 90s-inflected platforms that made his name to party-ready vertiginous heels.
